Mumbai Indians sign Corbin Bosch to replace injured Lizaad Williams

Mumbai Indians have brought in South African bowling all-rounder Corbin Bosch as a replacement for Lizaad Williams

Mumbai Indians have brought in South African bowling all-rounder Corbin Bosch as a replacement for Lizaad Williams, who has been ruled out of IPL 2025 due to a knee injury. Williams, bought for INR 75 lakh, had already missed the SA20 earlier this year and hasn’t fully recovered.

Bosch, who went unsold in the auction, now joins MI after an impressive SA20 season with MI Cape Town, where he picked up 11 wickets in eight games, including a standout 4 for 19 against Sunrisers Eastern Cape. He was also signed by Peshawar Zalmi for the 2025 PSL, which runs from April 11 to May 18, overlapping with IPL 2025 (March 22 – May 25).

This isn't Bosch’s first IPL stint—he was a net bowler for Rajasthan Royals before being signed as a replacement for Nathan Coulter-Nile but never got a game. Internationally, he made his Test debut in December 2024 against Pakistan, shortly after his ODI debut, and was called up as Anrich Nortje’s replacement in South Africa’s Champions Trophy squad.

Bangladesh set to host Zimbabwe for two-Test series in April

The Bangladesh Cricket Board announced on Saturday that Zimbabwe will arrive on their shores on April 15 to play a two-match Test series. It will be Zimbabwe's first Test tour to Bangladesh in five years as they last played a Test in Bangladesh in February 2020 with the hosts winning the one-off match by an innings and 106 runs. The opening Test is scheduled at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium from April 20 while the series concluding Test will be played at Chattogram's Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium from April 28.The last time Dhaka's Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium did not host any Test match was in March 2024 when Sri Lanka played a two-match Test series in Sylhet and Chattogram. A BCB official told Cricbuzz on Saturday that since the SBNS is hosting matches of the ongoing Dhaka Premier League, the country's traditional list A tournament, the board preferred to play the Tests outside Dhaka considering they can give better wickets."We are regularly having DPL matches in SBNS and so we decided to play the Test series in Chattogram and Sylhet because there you will get wickets that have got enough rest while it wouldn't have been the case in Dhaka," said the official.

YUVRAJ SINGH

Yuvraj Singh, one of India’s greatest all-rounders, was known for his explosive stroke play, match-winning abilities, and unwavering resilience. Born on December 12, 1981, in Chandigarh, he was a natural athlete who initially excelled in skating before his father, former cricketer Yograj Singh, pushed him towards cricket. Making his international debut in 2000, Yuvraj quickly cemented his place in India’s middle order with his aggressive batting and electric fielding. His finest moments came on the world stage—he played a pivotal role in India’s 2007 T20 World Cup triumph, famously smashing six sixes in an over against Stuart Broad. In the 2011 ODI World Cup, he delivered one of the most inspirational performances in cricket history, scoring 362 runs, taking 15 wickets, and winning four Player of the Match awards, earning the Player of the Tournament title as India lifted the trophy after 28 years. Soon after, he was diagnosed with a rare form of lung cancer, but he fought through chemotherapy and made a remarkable comeback to international cricket in 2012. Though his later years saw inconsistent form, he continued to be a fan favorite. Yuvraj retired in 2019, leaving behind a legacy of fearless cricket, unforgettable performances, and an inspiring story of resilience and triumph.

Ross Taylor was one of New Zealand’s most dependable and aggressive top-order batters, known for his love of on-side strokes. He made an early mark in international cricket, smashing 128 against Sri Lanka in just his third ODI. His Test career took off in 2008 with a maiden century against England in Hamilton, followed by a brilliant 154* at Old Trafford. Recognized for his stability, he was named captain in 2010 after Daniel Vettori stepped down. Under his leadership, New Zealand secured memorable victories against Australia in Hobart and Sri Lanka in Colombo, but his captaincy ended abruptly due to a controversial split-leadership decision. After stepping away from the game briefly, he returned in 2013 in top form, scoring 754 runs in just a few months, including his first double century. His career-defining moment came in 2015 with a stunning 290 at the WACA, the highest Test score by an overseas batter in Australia. Despite struggling with a benign eye growth, he underwent surgery in 2016 and bounced back, eventually equaling the New Zealand record for most Test centuries alongside Martin Crowe and Kane Williamson.
